How to get to UBC Rugby

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From East of Vancouver:

Arriving via Highway 1: Take Grandview Highway exit. Travel west along Grandview Highway. It will become 12th Avenue. In the neighbourhood of Kitsilano, the road will swerve between Trafalgar and Macdonald Streets, becoming 10th Avenue. Continue west up 10th until Blanca, where the road changes names again; now it is called University Boulevard. Follow University Boulevard until you reach Wesbrook Mall (the intersection is the main entrance to campus). Turn left at Wesbrook. When you reach Thunderbird Boulevard, you will see the Doug Mitchell Winter Sports Centre on your right; the Allen McGavin Thunderbird Rugby Pavilion is located directly south of the Mitchell Centre.

From Tsawassen:

Arriving at Tsawassen Ferry Terminal, follow the road (Highway 17) through Tsawassen and Ladner until you reach the interchange with Highway 99. Take the northbound exit onto Highway 99. After travelling through the George Massey Tunnel, you will be in Richmond. Continue north, you will pass over the Oak Street Bridge. Highway 99 is now called Oak Street, follow Oak Street until 49th Avenue, where you will turn left (west) on to 49th. Take 49th until you reach the intersection with SW Marine Drive. Turn right. Marine Drive continues along the southern edge of the city; you will pass through several series of lights before Marine Drive becomes a divided road. Watch for the intersection with Wesbrook Mall; turn right on to Wesbrook. Driving northwards up the hill, you will pass through the new South Campus residential district, before arriving at the roundabout intersection with West 16th Avenue. Continue north through the roundabout, you will see the UBC sports fields on your left. The rugby facilities are the northernmost set of fields in the complex.

From Horsehoe Bay and the North:

Departing from Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal on the North Shore, following Highway 99 until the Taylor Way exit. Turn right onto Taylor Way, southwards, down the hill. At the bottom of the hill you will turn left onto Marine Drive, making sure to take either the right hand or middle lanes; these will guide you on to the Lions Gate Bridge. Traffic is usually heavy here, be prepared to merge lanes. Once over the bridge, you will be on the Stanley Park Causeway, which will deliver you through the park and on to Georgia Street. Turn right at Thurlow Street; follow Thurlow until you start decending a hill, halfway down will be Pacific Street. Turn left here, but make sure you merge immediately into the right hand lane, which will take you on to the Burrard Bridge. Watch for cyclists as there is a dedicated bike lane over the bridge at this point. Passing over the bridge, take either the middle or left-most lane, which will take you up Burrard Street after the bridge. Follow Burrard until 16th Avenue, where you will turn right. Follow 16th all the way through the west side of Vancouver and then through the trees of Pacific Spirit Park. At Wesbrook Mall, turn right at the roundabout. You will see the UBC sports fields on your left, the rugby facilities are at the northernmost part of the complex.

From the USA:

Follow Highway 99 from the border until you enter Vancouver via the George Massey Tunnel into Richmond and then the Oak Street Bridge.
